Church History

Church History

The Cañon Community Baptist Church started as a mission church by Bethel Baptist Church out of Colorado Springs. When it charted in 1969 it was known as Cañon Baptist. They met in homes for a period of time, even in the home of Doyle Higgins who is still an active member of the church. They did, and we do, adhere to The Twelve Articles of Faith.

In October of 1969 the church purchased a building at the corner of 7th and Harrison. After several years of ups and downs and several pastors the church settled into its present location where the name was changed to its current name.

The church once had a Christian School where many Cañon City young people have graduated from. The church has been and is very active in evangelism and missionary efforts to reach the city and the world with the gospel.
